(EDIT: I changed his colors because his first colors were just annoying the heck out of me... they were just too bright and obnoxious!)
I'm bound and determined to get these character sheets finished this weekend. I'M HALF WAY THERE!
(Please note the information below is not accurate to the actual events. I'm making it up seeing as though I could not find much information about the actual huskies other than their names).
NAME: Rikku AGE: 2 years old BREED: Sakhalin Husky SEX: Male PERSONALITY: He is probably the spazziest of any of the huskies in the expedition. He's very young, energetic and doesn't use his head too much. Basically if you tell him "Don't touch the fire, it's hot" he'll touch it once, and then probably again because he forgot the consequences the first time.
What story are these for? The only well-known story I can think of is the Balto story... are you doing the 'real' version with goddammit-i-can't-remember-his-name-the-husky-that-actually-did-most-of-the-work-but-balto-got-the-credit?
NOoooo did you see the movie 8 Below? That's based off of a true story about a Japanese Expedition to Antarctica and they ended up having to leave 15 huskies behind. 8 of them got off their chains however the other 7 died on their chains. All in all two huskies (brothers) survived almost a year on their own down in Antarctica. This story to the Japanese is as big as Balto (I THINK the other huskie's name was Lobo).
There is also an old 1980's Japanese Version which doesn't have the nice Disney ending to it. That version is the first one I saw back when I was like... 10, but it was such a powerful movie which is why I really would like to make a comic on it. And even the movie 8 Below makes me cry so hard... However, being a dog musher probably plays part in that! I mean, I honestly could not IMAGINE what that guy had to go through.
Honestly my point of view of Balto getting the credit, I can kind of see how it happened, but that's just because I'm a dog musher.
MOST people run with two lead dogs... and the thing was Balto was never a lead dog, so when the musher put him in lead, it was a big deal. I know whenever I try a new dog in lead (especially one that I did not think had the potential of being a leader) when I come back from the trail he's the one that I start bragging about. So I can see how it happened like that.
i loved this little fellow, specially that grin
so i did a little test
the shading might look lame, because it took me a whole 2 minutes to do it, but that might be good
I really really like it! I like the soft shading and I really like how you shaded in with fur texture as well! I think it will really help add some depth to them since I made their designs so simple! I think that shading is gonna be perfect! Seriously, I like that a lot more than the cell shading that I was gonna do.
First off, everyone here at deviantART would like to say THANK YOU!!! We have received an overwhelming amount of enthusiasm for the launch of version 6 and believe that this has been our best-received launch to date.
You might even be one hell of a profesional, but if you don't SHOW it and PROVE it, how will everyone know? These facts are important not only when you are looking for a job, but in any situation when you wish to showcase your work. I decided to share a few guidelines that might help you give the best of yourself and help you be a better profesional.
`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
